During Office Hours

During our hours, if you have an urgent emergency, please call us and we will provide you with help at once. In our office, we work by appointment only. Same-day appointments are available for all sick children. To keep waiting times low, we do not take walk-in appointments.

If possible, please schedule rechecks and physical exams one to two weeks in advance, as there are a limited number of appointments each day for physical exams. If you can, please call between 10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. to schedule these appointments.

If you have a medical question, please ask to speak with the nurse. Calls are taken in the order received except in emergency cases. When you call, please be prepared to take notes and to have your pharmacist’s phone number ready.

After Office Hours

After our office closes, call our after-hours number at 706-226-4722. T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital Telephone Triage will be contacted, and one of their pediatric registered nurses will call you back to inquire about your child’s symptoms, how long he or she has been sick, and whether he or she has a fever. The nurse will provide instruction for you. Telephone Triage will send a report to our office the next day.

We have a physician on duty 24 hours per day. If needed, we will see your child in the emergency room or as soon as possible the next morning at the office, depending on the severity of your child’s condition. Please do not call the doctor on-call except for emergencies.

If you are unsure about what to do in a certain situation, please call our office and we will be happy to help you.

Medical Insurance

When you come for appointments, make sure our office has a current copy of your insurance card. If you change insurance plans, please let us know. Physician care in the hospital is billed and filed separately from hospital charges. Please check with your insurance provider to find out if they require notification at the time of hospitalization.

Try to determine if your insurance covers prescriptions, immunizations, laboratory tests and referrals. Knowing this information makes filing an easier and quicker process.
