Richard F. Spanjer, M.D. – September 1976
Dr. Spanjer was born and raised in Cedartown, GA, one of four boys whose parents were general practitioners in Cedartown for 35 years before they retired. He received his B.A. Degree from the University of Colorado in 1965, and then he spent a year in graduate school studying psychology. He attended Emory University School of Medicine and spent three years in practice training at Grady and Egleston hospitals in Atlanta. From 1973 to 1976 he practiced general pediatrics with the Indian Health Service on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona. Main medical interests include infectious diseases and hematology. His wife Patty is a La Leche League leader and an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant/BCLC, and they have five children: Michael, Timmy, Genni, Alex, and Andrew, and eight grandchildren. Main interests include wildlife, gardening, outdoor recreation and music.
William R. Edwards, M.D. – July 1999
Dr. Edwards was born in Aberdeen, MD and grew up in Dalton, GA. He attended the Georgia Institute of Technology. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, GA and did his Residency at the Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies in Kalamazoo, MI. He is board-certified in pediatrics and a Fellow in the American Academy of Pediatrics. He and his wife Heidi have two children, Brad and Charlotte.
John Putman, M.D.
Dr. Putman was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas where he grew up. He received his medical degree form the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas. He completed his residency training at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Putman is board certified in pediatrics and a fellow with the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is married to wife Jessica and they have one son, Parker. They also have 2 dogs, Isis and Piper. His hobbies include reading, gaming, and traveling. He is committed to scientific based medicine and ensures that he is up-to -date with any new treatments for childhood diseases.
