Our Doctors
Richard F. Spanjer, M.D. – September 1976
Dr. Spanjer was born and raised in Cedartown, GA, one of four boys whose parents were general practitioners in Cedartown for 35 years before they retired. He received his B.A. Degree from the University of Colorado in 1965, and then he spent a year in graduate school studying psychology. He attended Emory University School of Medicine and spent three years in practice training at Grady and Egleston hospitals in Atlanta. From 1973 to 1976 he practiced general pediatrics with the Indian Health Service on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona. Main medical interests include infectious diseases and hematology. His wife Patty is a La Leche League leader and an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant/BCLC, and they have five children: Michael, Timmy, Genni, Alex, and Andrew, and 10 grandchildren. Main interests include wildlife, gardening, outdoor recreation and music.
William R. Edwards, M.D. – July 1999
Dr. Edwards was born in Aberdeen, MD and grew up in Dalton, GA. He attended the Georgia Institute of Technology. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, GA and did his Residency at the Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies in Kalamazoo, MI. He is board-certified in pediatrics and a Fellow in the American Academy of Pediatrics. He and his wife Heidi have two children, Brad and Charlotte.
Tiffany Turner, D.O. - August 2022
Dr. Turner is from Northwest Georgia. She received her medical degree from Des Moines University in Iowa, then completed her pediatric residency training at LSU-HSC Children’s Hospital in New Orleans Louisiana. Dr. Turner started working with us in August 2022. She is passionate about preventative pediatrics and her practice philosophy is grounded in evidence based medicine. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her son, baking and photography.
Kyle Maxwell, M.D. - August 2023
Dr. Maxwell was born and raised around the Chattanooga area, earned his medical degree at Marshall University in Huntington, WV, and completed his Pediatrics residency at Virginia Commonwealth University Children’s Hospital of Richmond in Richmond, VA in 2023. He practices preventative medicine with an evidence-based approach, with a focus on mental health. Dr. Maxwell started working with us in August 2023. Outside of the office, Dr. Maxwell enjoys video and tabletop gaming, cooking, and spending time with his wife, Erica, two children, Sydney and Jack, and their pets, Arwen, Stormy, and Ember.
